Croatia adopts euro from January 2023

Posted Under: News

You may have heard that Croatia will be adopting the Euro (EUR) from 1 January 2023. From this date, the Croatian Kuna (HRK) will no longer be the local currency of Croatia meaning we’ll no longer support HRK.

WHAT’S CHANGING?

After 12 Dec 2022 HRK will be stopping and you should make all transactions which were previously HRK via our EUR routes. Keep reading to find out what this means for you and what steps you may need to take.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?

Payments: After 12 Dec 2022 you’ll be unable to send any new HRK payments. From this date you’ll simply need to send EUR payments, via either our local (SEPA) or SWIFT routes. If you submit a payment before 12 Dec and it’s failed by your beneficiary bank after this date, this will be credited to your GreenShootsFX EUR balance.

Collections: After 12 Dec 2022 you’ll be unable to receive any new HRK payments. From this date you’ll simply need to receive EUR payments, via either our local (SEPA) or SWIFT routes.

Trades: After 9 Dec 2022 you’ll be unable to book HRK trades. Any trades booked before this with a settlement date of 12 Dec 2022 will still settle. Please don’t book any HRK forward dates with a settlement date after 12 Dec 2022 as these will be blocked going forward.

Balance: If you currently hold HRK on balance in your GreenSHootsFX account and don’t plan on using this before the cut-off, please convert this to EUR before 12 Dec 2022.
